PBPL recognised at Premier’s Sustainability Awards

PBPL’s Environment Manager, Craig Wilson was pleased to accept the Highly Commended award for Business Eco-efficiency at Premier’s Sustainability Awards ceremony.

On 5 November, PBPL was awarded a Highly Commended at the Premier’s Sustainability Awards ceremony in the category ‘Business Eco-efficiency’.

This award was in recognition of PBPL’s eco-efficiency initiatives, which focus on resource reduction, including energy waste and water.

PBPL’s major eco-efficiency programs include our Waste Management Program, which has seen waste reduce by 28% and recycling increase by 26% since 2011, and our rooftop solar initiative, which has reduced our building’s annual carbon emissions by 20%.

Similarly, our annual water usage has reduced by 91% over 10 years through the introduction of a range of water efficiency measures.

We are also committed to sustainable building design and construction, and investigating improved stormwater management techniques both at the port and upriver.

These programs and initiatives not only focus on the positive environmental benefits for the port and our surrounding environment, but the improved financial and business outcomes for the company.

PBPL will continue to pursue sustainable outcomes in all areas of our business operations.
